<video:title>Why poor weight shift kills iron compression #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Many golfers make what feels like a good swing but still struggle to compress their irons. When pressure stays on the back foot and doesn’t move into the lead side, the low point shifts too far back, leading to thin strikes and weak ball flight. Improving weight shift helps you strike the ball first and produce more powerful, consistent contact.
If iron strike or compression is holding your game back, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you clear guidance on weight shift, low point, and impact so you can hit your irons with confidence.

Most golfers think their iron swing is the problem… but in this lesson, it wasn’t.
Alexis came in struggling with his irons and hybrids—missing left and struggling to get that clean, compressed strike. But what we found was interesting…
👉 His swing was actually pretty good.
The real issue was in the setup—specifically how he was holding the club and positioning himself at address.
In this lesson, we worked on:
Fixing the clubface through a simple grip adjustment
Changing his setup so he stops setting up like a driver
Improving strike and compression without changing the swing
And the best part?
This is something you can check in just a few seconds before you hit a shot.
If your irons feel inconsistent—even when your swing feels good—this could be exactly what you're missing.

<video:description>Great players begin the downswing by leading with the lower body, creating separation between the hips and the upper body. That separation allows the club to shallow and sequence more efficiently into impact. This drill, often used by Dave Phillips, helps golfers feel the correct order and build better timing.
If downswing sequencing or shallowing feels difficult, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you clear structure to improve transition and strike consistency.

In this video we ask a simple question:
If we only had 5 minutes to help a golfer strike their irons better… where would we start?
After coaching thousands of golfers, we’ve found that less thinking often leads to better contact. Instead of overloading the swing with technical thoughts, we share one powerful drill we regularly use with golfers on the lesson tee that helps organise the body naturally and improve strike.
This approach uses an external focus that allows the body to respond more freely, reducing tension and helping you find moire solid ball-first contact with your irons.
If your iron shots are often fat, thin, or inconsistent, try this drill the next time you practise. Sometimes the fastest improvements come from simplifying what you're trying to do.

Even a scratch golfer can struggle with driver strike.
In this lesson, I work with Hunter, a scratch golfer who was struggling to find fairways. His miss was consistently out of the toe, and he wanted to improve his strike, gain more consistency, and take the left side out of play.
Interestingly, the solution had nothing to do with changing his swing.
Instead, we focused on a few key setup fundamentals, improving posture, adjusting ball position, and refining alignment. These small adjustments helped Hunter strike the ball more consistently from the centre of the clubface and produce the controlled fade he was looking for.
This lesson is a great reminder that for many golfers, better driver performance often starts with setup rather than swing changes.
If you struggle with inconsistent driver contact or finding the centre of the face, this is definitely worth watching.

In this video you'll learn:
• Why driver strike location matters
• How setup influences driver contact
• The role of posture, ball position, and alignment
• How to improve driver consistency without changing your swing

<video:description>To compress the ball well, your body needs to be preparing for impact earlier than most golfers realize. By allowing the lead shoulder to cover the lead leg and moving cohesively—shifting and turning together—you arrive at the impact line sooner and with more control. Using an alignment stick against the lead hip gives a clear visual of where impact should be and how early you can get there. This creates a smoother transition and much more consistent contact.

Ally is athletic. She rotates well. She creates speed, and she was still hitting her irons heavy.
In this live lesson, we break down why good rotation alone isn’t enough to create solid, ball-first contact, and why so many recreational golfers struggle with fat iron shots even when their swing “looks good.” The real issue? Weight shift and footwork.

If you’ve ever felt like:
-You turn well but still hit the ground before the ball
-Your irons feel inconsistent
-You can’t quite get that crisp compression?
This video will help you too 🏌🏻

Struggling with pitch shots from 40-80 yards?
You’re not alone and chances are, you’re much closer than you think.
In this lesson, we work with Ian, who had completely lost confidence on his pitch shots. He felt like he was hitting everything heavy and thought his technique was miles off… but the fix turned out to be far simpler than expected.
We show you:
- Why golfers hit the ground first on pitch shots
- How moving too much down kills contact
- A simple feel that helps you control your low point
- Why “standing up” and rotating the head can instantly improve contact
If you struggle with pitching from 40-50 yards, or anywhere up to 80 yards? This lesson will help you regain confidence and strike the ball cleanly again.
👉 Try this feel next time you practise and let us know how it goes.

<video:description>Stop guessing what to work on in your golf game. Build your Personal Game Before you tee it up, a little strategy goes a long way. Choose your tee position based on where any trouble is or where the hole is, then step behind the ball to build a clear picture of your target line. This helps you align correctly instead of being influenced by the shape of the tee box. When your aim is clear, your swing has a much better chance to deliver the shot you want.

<video:title>The Right Way to Hold Lag #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Lag is crucial for compression, but holding the angle without managing the clubface creates big misses.
To strike irons cleanly, you need to maintain lag and allow the face to square as you rotate through impact. Paying attention to both prevents shanks, toe strikes, and weak contact while keeping the handle leading.
This is the blend that produces pure ball-turf compression.
If this is something you struggle with, we’ve created coaching plans that focus on fixing one clear problem at a time.

<video:title>3 Easy Ways to Add Driver Distance #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Here are three straightforward ways to add more distance with your driver. Start by flaring your lead foot and moving the ball farther forward in your stance, which helps you rotate better and hit up on the ball. Next, create a slight tilt away from the target at address to set up the proper launch conditions. Finally, feel more width at the top of the backswing by getting the hands further away from you. These three changes work together to help you hit it longer with more consistency.

<video:title>A Simple TPI Wrist Mobility Test #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Your ability to shallow the club and get it on plane is heavily influenced by your wrist range of motion. If you’re limited here, the swing often compensates by getting steep or coming over the top. This simple wrist mobility test is one they use at TPI to understand what your body can actually do. Knowing this helps you train smarter instead of forcing positions your wrists can’t support.
If this is something you struggle with and you’re not sure what to work on next, we’ve built coaching plans that target specific problems and give you a clear path forward. Click the link in our bio to find the plan that fits your game.

      <video:title>Justin Rose Does This Drill #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Justin Rose uses this drill to train proper shaft lean and true ball-turf compression. When the right palm is down at impact, the handle is leading and the club is delivered with forward shaft lean—provided the face stays square. Focus on shifting and covering the ball while pushing the right hand into the grip, then rotating through to the target. This trains powerful compression without stalling the body or flipping the club.

      <video:title>Stay Wider in the Takeaway #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Many golfers fold their trail arm too early in the takeaway, which breaks sequence and limits torso rotation. This split grip drill helps you feel the right arm stay straighter for longer while keeping it more “on top” of the club. You’ll start the swing with better connection, width, and rotation — leading to more consistent contact and fewer compensations.

<video:title>Slice Problem No One Talks About #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>A lot of golfers who slice the ball are too narrow in the backswing — their right arm stays stuck to the body, creating a cramped position at the top.
When this happens, it’s almost impossible to square the face without early release or an over-the-top move.
By keeping the right arm a little farther from the body and setting the shaft closer to 90° when the lead arm is parallel, you’ll widen your arc, improve sequencing, and strike it much cleaner.

Struggling to compress your irons or take a divot after the ball?
In this live lesson, Devin was doing exactly that, hanging back on his trail leg, bottoming out too early, and struggling with thin and fat iron shots.

In this session, we work through two key changes that completely transformed his iron striking:
First, we stabilise his pivot and lower body to stop excessive sway.
Then, we introduce a very specific weight-shift drill that forces the correct move and instantly improves his low point control.
By the end of the lesson, the difference is clear:

✅ Weight fully onto the lead leg at impact
✅ Ball struck first, turf after
✅ Proper iron compression and consistent contact

This is a real golfer, a real problem, and a real transformation and the same principles apply to any golfer struggling with iron compression.

<video:description>Before you tee it up, a little strategy goes a long way. Choose your tee position based on where any trouble is or where the hole is, then step behind the ball to build a clear picture of your target line. This helps you align correctly instead of being influenced by the shape of the tee box. When your aim is clear, your swing has a much better chance to deliver the shot you want.

<video:description>Wedge spin is created by friction between the face and the ball, and that friction reduces as grooves wear over time. Moisture and dirt on the face lower it even further, leading to shots that release more than expected. Understanding groove wear — often around 75 rounds, as suggested by Titleist — and keeping wedges clean and dry can immediately improve control.

If you struggle with fat shots, thin shots, or inconsistent iron contact, the problem usually comes down to one key concept in the golf swing, low point control.
Great ball strikers consistently hit the ball first, then the turf. This is what creates that crisp, compressed iron strike that gives you better distance control, accuracy, and more greens in regulation.
In this golf lesson, we reveal the real reason your iron shots aren’t solid and show you how to create consistent ball-first contact.

Inside this video you’ll learn:
• The key concept of low point control in the golf swing
• Why most golfers hit fat or thin iron shots
• 3 simple changes to help you strike the ball then turf
• The common mistakes that stop golfers from hitting their irons clean

When you improve your iron ball striking, everything in your game improves, better distance control, more greens hit, and lower scores. 🏌🏻

<video:description>Over-the-top swings and early release lead to scooping, slices, and a lack of compression. The pump drill trains the correct sequence by letting you feel lag, rotation, and proper delivery without forcing positions. Two controlled pumps to rehearse the motion, then swing through on the third to produce cleaner contact and more consistent ball flight.

We took on a PGA Tour player and it was eye-opening.
In this video, we are at The Grand Golf Club in San Diego for a back-9, 2-v-2 scramble against Aaron Rai, one of the top players in the world, and his caddie Jason Timmis.
Aaron has been a long-time Me and My Golf student since the age of 11, so this wasn’t just a match, it was a brilliant opportunity to see how elite golf really looks up close, under pressure, and on the course.
This isn’t about trick shots or highlights. It’s about:
How a PGA Tour player manages the course
The decisions made off the tee and into greens
The small details that separate elite golf from good golf

<video:title>Cover the Lead Side Like This #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>To compress the ball well, your body needs to be preparing for impact earlier than most golfers realize. By allowing the lead shoulder to cover the lead leg and moving cohesively—shifting and turning together—you arrive at the impact line sooner and with more control. Using an alignment stick against the lead hip gives a clear visual of where impact should be and how early you can get there. This creates a smoother transition and much more consistent contact.

<video:title>Why shoulder position matters in chipping #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Chipping becomes much more reliable when the shoulders are positioned correctly throughout the motion. Using a reverse-hand grip — popularised by players like Matt Fitzpatrick — helps the body work together and keeps the stroke more connected. When the setup supports the motion, strike and distance control improve naturally.
If chipping consistency or confidence around the greens is something you’re working on, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you clear short-game setups and feels that simplify decision-making.

<video:title>Why your turn controls shot shape #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Shot shape is heavily influenced by how you turn in the backswing compared to how you turn through the ball. A greater turn back can encourage a draw, while more turn through often promotes a fade. Experimenting with this relationship helps you identify what your swing needs to keep the ball in play more consistently.
If shot shape or consistency off the tee is something you’re working on, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you clear structure to understand your tendencies and manage them with confidence.

<video:description>The set-to-point drill is a simple way to improve tempo, rotation, and strike quality. By swinging halfway back, halfway through, and holding the finish, you train better sequencing and keep the clubface square. It provides instant feedback on balance, rhythm, and contact without getting technical.
If tempo or strike consistency feels off, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans focus on simple movements that hold up on the course and take the guesswork out of practice.

<video:title>Why finesse wedges keep getting heavy #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Heavy finesse wedges often come from trying to force the strike into the ground. When the upper body moves downward through impact, the low point shifts too early and contact suffers. Allowing the body to move slightly upward through impact helps create cleaner, ball-first contact and more predictable distance.
If finesse wedge contact or confidence is holding your scoring back, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you clear guidance on strike and turf interaction so these shots become reliable.

<video:title>Why shoulder mobility affects club shallowing #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Shallowing the club in the downswing requires enough shoulder mobility to move the arms and club into the right positions. When that mobility is limited, golfers often compensate by swinging over the top. A simple 90/90 test helps identify whether your range of motion is supporting your swing — or forcing compensations.
If over-the-top swings or mobility concerns are holding you back, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans help you understand what your body needs and how to match your swing to it.

Mark is a 3-index golfer, and this was his first ever golf lesson. Despite having a good-looking swing, he was struggling badly with iron consistency. Poor contact, no compression, and very unpredictable direction. In this live lesson, we did something unusual: we didn’t change his golf swing at all.

The results were instant: ball first, turf after - without adding swing thoughts or complexity.

This lesson is a powerful reminder that sometimes the biggest improvements don’t come from changing technique, but from fixing the foundations first.
If you feel like your swing looks good but your results don’t match, this video will really resonate.

      <video:title>Square Up For Better Rotation #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Many golfers never reach a full shoulder turn — not because they’re stiff, but because they start too open at setup.
Think about it like this; If you begin with your shoulders 20° open, you’ve already lost part of your turn before you even start.
By squaring up to 0° and turning fully back to 90°, you’ll create more coil, more power, and better consistency.

<video:description>When the swing works over the top and the wrists cast early, the club loses structure and compression disappears. A simple pump drill helps you feel the club shallow, stay behind the ball, and deliver the club properly through impact. Focusing on feel rather than mechanics allows the motion to clean itself up.
If scooping, casting, or slicing is something you’re working through, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans give you a clear path to improve compression and ball flight without guessing.

<video:description>Your driver and iron setups should look very different if you want consistent contact. With driver, you’ll see more hip tilt, weight favoring the trail side, and the ball positioned farther forward to help you hit up on it. With irons, the hips are more level, the ball is closer to the middle of the stance, and the weight favors the lead side to promote compression. Using an alignment stick through the belt loops gives a clear visual of your hip tilt and setup differences.

<video:title>This Helps You Shallow The Club #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Your ability to shallow the club and get it on plane is heavily influenced by your wrist range of motion. If you’re limited here, the swing often compensates by getting steep or coming over the top. This simple wrist mobility test is one they use at TPI to understand what your body can actually do. Knowing this helps you train smarter instead of forcing positions your wrists can’t support.
If this is something you struggle with and you’re not sure what to work on next, we’ve built coaching plans that target specific problems and give you a clear path forward. Click the link in our bio to find the plan that fits your game.

If we only had 5 minutes with most golfers, this is where I’d start.
Over 25+ years of coaching, we’ve seen the same pattern again and again, golfers struggling with their driver not because of their swing, but because of something far simpler.

In this video, we break down the one setup change that can instantly improve:
-Shoulder alignment
-Tilt
-Strike quality
-Attack angle
-Swing path

Nothing complicated.
Nothing technical overload.
Just one change that makes the driver swing easier.
If you’ve been fighting your driver, this could be the reset you need.

      <video:title>Left Shoulder Down in Transition #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Stop guessing what to work on in your golf game. Build your Personal Game If the left shoulder lifts in transition, it’s usually a sign you’re hanging back, rotating too early, or trying to shallow the club the wrong way. To compress irons and reach the impact line, the pressure needs to move into the lead leg while the left shoulder works down and covers it. This creates better low-point control and much cleaner contact.
If this feels familiar, we’ve created coaching plans that focus on fixing one clear problem at a time. Click the link in our bio to find the plan that fits your game — even if you’re not sure what to work on yet.</video:description>

<video:title>Why your swing shape dictates your ball flight #golfswing #golftips</video:title>
<video:description>Certain swing movements naturally steepen the club, while others help shallow it — and those differences directly influence ball flight. Steeper patterns tend to produce more fade, while shallower patterns often lead to a draw. The goal isn’t to copy a swing, but to understand which movement your swing needs more of.
If you want clarity on what’s shaping your ball flight, head to the link in our bio. Our coaching plans help you identify the right priorities for your swing and give you a structured path forward without guesswork.
